We See Books Everywhere
We are writers, editors, and a consulting/coaching service for people who want to write and publish their own books to tell their own stories. Today, thanks to a proliferation of do-it-yourself technology, we are able to create published books without traditional publishers.
We see books everywhere. We see them in your rich and unique life stories coupled with the old, yellowing pictures stuffed away (or how about rescuing what's been forgotten to your digital camera, Facebook or iPhone?). We see books in the notebooks of poems you have been writing and stashing since college, but who knew? Ask yourself, how many memoirs are out there that started as journal entries?
We see cookbooks in your recipes (how better to tell a family's history than through the meals and memories they have shared?) We see books in your milestones: graduations, weddings and trips around the world. We see books in the old playbills from the Fillmore or Broadway that you collected over decades. We see books in your new house or garden renovation and your old jokes. We see books that are one-of-a-kind because they are each, in one way or another, about you and your life.
We see ourselves functioning in a private realm with you. Because each person has a different story to tell, we see the market for your books (at least for now) as being your friends and family who had no idea you even wrote poetry, or those who would cherish your old pictures and family recipes. It is your world of family and friends to whom your story is most important––and they are the ones who benefit from your effort to write it down to make it part of your legacy to be passed from one generation to the next.
Of course, we encourage anyone who publishes with Postscript Publishing to send a copy to Harcourt and all the rest to show them who you are and what you have been hiding. We'd be happy to help you get discovered beyond your inner circle. Who knows when our private lives will strike a common chord?
